In the meeting, Shamali emphasized the strong ties between Jordan and ASEAN countries with embassies in the Kingdom, including Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Thailand. He expressed a keen interest in expanding cooperation, particularly in economic and commercial sectors, and improving access for Jordanian exports to ASEAN markets.

Shamali highlighted the promising opportunities for increasing economic cooperation and trade between Jordan and ASEAN countries, both as a group and individually. He encouraged ASEAN countries to invest in Jordan, taking advantage of the incentives and benefits offered by Jordanian legislation, especially under the Investment Environment Law.

ASEAN ambassadors echoed the importance of deepening relations with Jordan, stressing the need to boost trade and investment. They highlighted the potential for mutual benefits from increased trade in products with export opportunities between the two regions.

The meeting concluded with an agreement on several mechanisms to strengthen economic cooperation. These included plans to hold an annual economic forum with public and private sector participation from Jordan and ASEAN countries, aimed at fostering collaboration in trade, industry, investment, agriculture, and tourism. Additionally, the forum would identify priority export sectors and areas of common interest, and facilitate mutual trade delegations to explore new opportunities, particularly in the halal products sector.

The attendees also agreed to establish points of contact between the Ministry of Industry and ASEAN representatives to initiate technical work and ensure continuous follow-up. This collaboration aims to identify areas for cooperation, propose mechanisms to enhance economic ties, and frame these efforts within necessary agreements and memorandums of understanding to stimulate intra-regional trade and address any challenges.
