AMMAN — President of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce Khalil Al-Haj Tawfiq said King Abdullah II’s address to the United Nations General Assembly went beyond presenting Jordan’s positions on regional crises, offering the world a clear picture of Jordan as a country firm in its principles, clear in its positions, protective of its interests and committed to supporting its Arab brothers while continuing to build its own future.

Al-Haj Tawfiq said the King placed the international community before its responsibilities in clear terms, particularly regarding developments in Gaza and the West Bank, the risks of forced displacement, continued Israeli attacks and attempts to impose new realities on the ground. At the same time, he stressed that Jordan’s security, borders, water resources and the interests of its people are non-negotiable.
He said Jordanians felt proud listening to the King address the international community with such clarity, defending Palestine while safeguarding Jordan’s interests. The speech, he added, demonstrated that Jordanian diplomacy and wisdom do not signify weakness and that the Kingdom’s commitment to its principles is not a temporary position subject to changing circumstances.
In a statement representing the Kingdom’s commercial and services sectors, Al-Haj Tawfiq said the private sector also paid close attention to another important message in the King’s address: despite the successive crises surrounding it, Jordan continues to build for the future and strengthen links from the Gulf to the Mediterranean through its role as a hub for trade, industry and technology.
He said this was not merely a passing statement in a political speech, but an economic vision and a call to action. If the King presents Jordan to the world as a reliable country, the responsibility of both the public and private sectors is to translate that confidence into investment, its position into partnerships, its geographic location into trade flows, and its stability into jobs and economic growth.
Al-Haj Tawfiq added that countries around the world are reassessing supply chains, food and energy sources, trade routes and investment locations. The King’s warning about how quickly regional crises can affect trade, investment and people’s lives worldwide therefore carries an economic message as significant as the political messages contained in his address.
He noted that recent years have demonstrated that economic security and national security are closely interconnected. Protecting trade routes, strengthening food security, diversifying import sources, developing logistics infrastructure and building Arab economic integration are no longer traditional trade issues, but essential elements of countries’ ability to withstand shocks and protect their people’s interests.
The King’s address, Al-Haj Tawfiq said, highlighted the close relationship between political and security stability on one hand and the economy, trade, investment and people’s lives on the other, particularly when he noted that regional crises are increasingly reflected directly in household energy and food bills around the world.
He said the message is particularly important for Jordan, which has maintained its stability and continued the flow of trade and goods despite a highly complex regional environment, while also expanding economic partnerships, opening new markets and strengthening its role as a center for trade, industry, technology and services.

The Jordan Chamber of Industry said the King’s address presented the world with a clear picture of Jordan as a country firm in its positions and principles, determined to defend its interests and security, and confident in its ability to continue building its future despite the crises and challenges surrounding it.
In a statement, the chamber said the King conveyed the voice of Jordan and Jordanians with clarity and firmness, reaffirming Jordan’s longstanding position on the Palestinian cause and the rights of the Palestinian people while placing the international community before its responsibilities over the continued conflict and its humanitarian, political and security repercussions.
The chamber said the speech highlighted the reality of developments in Gaza and the West Bank and warned of the consequences of continued Israeli policies and practices and attempts to impose new realities on the ground. Such developments, it said, threaten not only the Palestinian people but also the security and stability of the wider region.
It added that the King placed the international community before a clear responsibility amid the contradiction between calls to respect international law and human rights and the continuation of violations without accountability.
The chamber said the King stressed that continuing to manage the consequences of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict rather than addressing its root causes would not lead to security or peace.
It added that the King reaffirmed the Palestinian issue as one of rights, justice and ending the occupation, reiterating Jordan’s support for the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and to establish an independent state, as well as the Kingdom’s historic role in protecting Muslim and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem under the Hashemite Custodianship.
The chamber said the strength of Jordan’s position stems from its consistency and continuity, noting that Jordan has maintained its principles for decades and repeatedly warned that the absence of a just solution to the Palestinian issue would leave the region and the wider world vulnerable to recurring cycles of conflict and instability.
East Amman Industrial Investors Association
The East Amman Industrial Investors Association said it followed the King’s address with great interest, describing it as a clear expression of Jordan’s state principles in defending the Kingdom’s security, sovereignty and national interests, as well as its commitment to justice, peace and human rights.
The association reiterated its support for Jordan’s position on the Palestinian issue and the Palestinian people’s right to live in security and dignity and obtain their legitimate rights. It also rejected forced displacement and attempts to impose new realities on the ground that could undermine prospects for a viable Palestinian state.
The association praised the King’s firm position regarding Jordan’s security, particularly his assertion that any threat to the Kingdom’s borders or water security constitutes a direct threat to Jordanian national security.
It said the speech also warned of the risks of an expanding conflict and attempts to impose new realities on the ground, emphasizing that military force alone cannot create peace or provide lasting solutions and that stability requires justice, accountability and sustainable political solutions.
General Electricity Workers’ Union
The General Federation of Electricity Workers said the King’s address reflected Jordan’s established national and pan-Arab positions and demonstrated a clear approach to the challenges facing the region, foremost among them the Palestinian issue, while safeguarding Jordan’s security, stability, sovereignty and national interests.
The union said the King’s emphasis on strengthening economic, trade and technological cooperation and continuing the country’s development efforts was directly linked to the future of workers and employment.
A stronger national economy, broader investment opportunities, modernization and digital transformation can contribute to creating new jobs, strengthening social protection, raising productivity and improving living standards, thereby supporting sustainable development and social justice, it said.
Union President Fakhri Abdullah Al-Ajarmeh said the King’s address conveyed a clear Jordanian message to the international community: Jordan remains committed to diplomacy, dialogue and peace, and to respecting international law and international legitimacy, without compromising its rights or national principles.
He added that Jordan would continue to defend just causes, foremost among them the Palestinian cause, and work toward achieving a just and comprehensive peace in the region.
