The Greater Amman Municipality has issued 196 home-based business licenses since the beginning of 2026 through September, while the number of active licenses related to food production reached 229, according to Tareq Al-Qahyiwi, director of the municipality’s Vocational Licensing and Advertising Department.اضافة اعلان

Al-Qahyiwi said in a press statement that the municipality had issued 42 new licenses for home-based food production activities since the beginning of the year, while intellectual professions accounted for the largest share of applications for home business licenses.

The licensing regulations for home-based businesses aim to enable as many individuals as possible to launch their businesses at lower costs and through simplified procedures.

Licensed home-based activities fall into four main categories: intellectual professions, handicrafts, food production, and home services. They cover a range of activities that can be carried out from residential premises in accordance with approved regulatory and technical requirements.

For home-based businesses involved in food production, the municipality requires approval from the Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA) and the completion of the necessary approvals from relevant authorities, in addition to compliance with public safety, health and environmental requirements.

The regulations allow the licensing of various intellectual professions, handicrafts, food production activities and home services, provided applicants comply with the permitted area for business use inside the home, avoid causing disturbances to neighbors and preserve the residential nature of the premises.

The Jordan Food and Drug Administration has launched an awareness campaign on licensing procedures and requirements for home-based food businesses, as well as food safety and quality standards. The campaign includes a series of awareness activities across the Kingdom’s governorates aimed at simplifying procedures and identifying challenges facing operators of these businesses.

The administration said the campaign forms part of its awareness and guidance role, which extends beyond regulatory oversight to promoting awareness of and compliance with food safety requirements. It added that the initiative would help support home-based food businesses, enhance the safety of their products and improve their quality, thereby strengthening consumer confidence and supporting the development of these enterprises.
