Jordanian King Abdullah II on Monday reaffirmed Jordan’s commitment to building on its strategic partnership with the European Union, expressing the Kingdom’s anticipation of hosting the Jordan-EU Investment Conference next November.
The King made the remarks during a meeting with European Council President António Costa on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly meetings in New York, attended by Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II.
The meeting addressed the latest regional developments. King Abdullah stressed the need to intensify international efforts to reach a solution that ends the ongoing escalation while safeguarding the security and sovereignty of Arab states.
The King also warned of the risks posed by Israeli measures in the West Bank and Jerusalem, and called for support for Lebanon and Syria in their efforts to preserve their security and the safety of their citizens.
For his part, European Council President António Costa expressed the European Union’s appreciation for its partnership with Jordan and its commitment to continuing to expand cooperation across various fields. He also underscored the importance of Jordan’s role in efforts to promote stability in the region.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and Director of the Royal Office Alaa Batayneh.
