The olive harvest season is expected to begin in mid-October, with the price of a tin of olive oil projected to range between JD 100 and JD 110 during the current season, according to Taysir Al-Najdawi, head of the Jordanian Association of Olive Presses and Olive Producers.

Speaking to Al Mamlaka on Monday, Al-Najdawi said the current season is expected to be better than last year, thanks to rainfall across the Kingdom. He anticipated that olive oil production would be sufficient to meet domestic consumption needs, with the possibility of generating a surplus for export.
He noted that rainfall recorded in parts of northern Jordan in recent days would contribute to improving the quality of olive oil produced during the current season.
The positive outlook for the new season comes after a sharp decline in olive oil production last year. Data from the Department of Statistics showed that production in the 2025 season reached 16,342 tonnes, down 54.4% from the previous season’s 35,828 tonnes and 34.4% below the average production of 24,923 tonnes recorded between 2012 and 2024.
The quantity of olives sent for pressing during the 2025 season stood at around 84,154 tonnes, compared with 184,903 tonnes in the previous season, according to the Department of Statistics’ olive press survey.
The decline in production last season prompted the Ministry of Agriculture to halt exports of green olives. It later opened the door to olive oil imports to compensate for the shortfall in domestic production and meet market demand.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Agriculture recently said that indicators for the current season are promising in terms of both production and quality, supported by the rainy season. It confirmed that measures would continue to regulate the olive oil market and meet domestic demand, while allowing exports to preserve traditional markets for Jordanian olive products.
The ministry, in cooperation with the Department of Statistics, has begun preparations for a statistical survey of olive and olive oil production for the new season. The survey will cover all olive presses across the Kingdom, with production data to be monitored weekly throughout the season.
The Jordan Food and Drug Administration has also prepared a proactive plan for the 2026/2027 olive oil season, including tracking olive oil and ensuring its safety throughout the various stages of the supply chain, from the source to the consumer.
