The number of collective labor agreements signed by the Labor Relations Directorate at the Ministry of Labor during the first half of the current year reached 22 agreements, covering a number of sectors.

The Ministry's media spokesperson, Mohammad Al-Ziyoud, told the Jordan News Agency (Petra) on Wednesday that the Ministry, through the Labor Relations Directorate, dealt with 28 labor disputes since the beginning of this year. Of these, 21 disputes were resolved at the direct negotiation stage, one was resolved at the conciliation officer stage, and two disputes were settled at the labor court stage, noting that 4 disputes remain under process.
He added that among the most prominent sectors handled by the Labor Relations Directorate regarding labor disputes and collective agreements were the electricity, beauty salons, hotels and mining, food industries, textile and garment manufacturing, auto trade, aviation, telecommunications, ports, and railways sectors.
Al-Ziyoud explained that a labor dispute goes through four stages under the Labor Law to reach a resolution and reconcile differences between employers and workers in the private sector: First, the conciliation officer stage from the Ministry. If an amicable agreement between both parties is not reached, the dispute moves to the second stage: intervention by the Minister. If the dispute remains unresolved, it transitions to the third stage: the Conciliation Council, chaired by the Ministry. The final stage for resolving any labor dispute between employees and employers is the Labor Court.
