AMMAN —
Speaker of the Arab Parliament Adel Al-Asoomi said on Monday that His Majesty
King Abdullah plays an important role in promoting joint Arab action and
supporting Arab causes, especially the Palestinian cause, Al-Mamlaka TV
reported.

Asoomi also said that the Arab Parliament is fully
supportive of His Majesty’s efforts focused on protecting Arab interests, stressing
that Jordan is working in accordance with a clear Arab concept that is
supportive of Arab issues and encourages Arab coordination.
He also mentioned the important alliance among
Jordan, Egypt, and Iraq.
Asoomi praised the outcomes of the Jeddah summit,
which the parliament views as a qualitative leap in the Arab world.
He said Arab
people should “be optimistic about the next stage, when the Arab nation will
rise through the honorable positions of Arab leaders”.
“The Arab Parliament leads an effective Arab
parliamentary diplomacy with international organizations and bodies,
participating in international conferences so that Arab issues are presented,
especially the Palestinian problem, which is the main topic in the Arab
Parliament and has a special place in all external engagements and interviews,”
he said.
“The Arab
Parliament has achieved much and seeks to achieve more,” he said, adding that
without the present diplomacy, “many Arab countries will not be able to support
Arab causes.”
