AMMAN — The Cabinet decided on Wednesday to exempt UNRWA from
textbook fees for the years 2019-2023, amounting to more than JD4 million,
Al-Mamlaka TV reported.

The exemption is intended to aid UNRWA in providing
critical and necessary services to Palestinian refugees living in the kingdom
and help the agency overcome its current financial burdens.
Last October, as
per the directives of His Majesty, the Cabinet decided to allocate JD3 million
to UNRWA’s budget.
On another note, the Cabinet
adopted the committee's suggestions for addressing unresolved concerns between
taxpayers and the Income and Sales Tax Department. The tax positions of 551
businesses and taxpayers will be resolved using the provisions of the Income
Tax Law and the General Sales Tax Law.
