Jordan, UN to sign 5-year framework of cooperation

AMMAN — The UN Day was celebrated in Jordan, with the world body stressing its commitment to continue strengthening development support for the Kingdom, and providing humanitarian assistance, and protection to those in need, Al-Mamlaka TV reported.اضافة اعلان

The UN in Jordan, made up of 18 resident agencies, in cooperation with the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM), celebrated through an open day that included an exhibition on the work of various agencies in Jordan and a bazaar for the products of beneficiaries of various UN programs and projects nationwide.

Princess Dina Mired, the guest of honor, expressed her appreciation for the work of the UN at the global level, including in Jordan.

“I would like to thank all UN personnel, wherever they may be, for their efforts, and for what they are doing here in Jordan, for upholding the values of humanitarian principles and human rights,” the princess said.

Dominik Bartsch, Representative of the UN refugee agency UN in Jordan, said that the global organization has a longstanding relationship with the government and people of Jordan. “Today is an opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to continue our support to the Jordanian government, provide assistance to the most vulnerable, and accelerate the achievement of the sustainable development goals,” Bartsch said.

He noted that the UN will soon sign a new five-year framework of cooperation with the government of Jordan, focusing on integration, and addressing vulnerabilities and sustainability.
