Jordan’s Ministry of Health and the Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA) announced on Monday that laboratory tests have confirmed Salmonella bacteria as the cause of the recent food poisoning cases reported in the Hashemiyah District of Zarqa Governorate.
The JFDA said that one of the migrant workers who had recently joined the restaurant linked to the outbreak was found to be infected with Salmonella and did not possess a valid health certificate.
The Ministry of Health stated that laboratory findings and epidemiological investigations identified Salmonella as the source of the outbreak. It explained that, immediately after receiving reports of the cases, it launched an epidemiological investigation in cooperation with the JFDA.
The investigation included:
* Identifying the common meal consumed by those affected.
* Conducting field inspections.
* Collecting samples from food items and restaurant employees.
* Determining the source of the contamination.
The Jordan Food and Drug Administration said it is continuing the necessary legal and administrative procedures against the restaurant in accordance with the applicable regulations.
