Opening the forum, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev praised His Majesty King Abdullah II's stances in supporting peace opportunities in the Middle East. He commended the relations binding Jordan and Azerbaijan, as well as their shared positions in achieving solidarity among the member states of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). Azerbaijan will chair the OIC's upcoming 16th session and host its proceedings in the capital, Baku.

Aliyev noted his meeting in Baku with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, where they discussed ways to expand bilateral relations and cooperation in economy, energy, and investment. They also signed bilateral agreements, most notably a mutual visa-waiver agreement between the two countries.

President Aliyev stated that Azerbaijan's policy has always aimed to enhance cooperation and find solutions to issues concerning its neighbors, alongside raising matters of importance to Azerbaijan itself.

He added, "From this standpoint, we naturally seek to consolidate the positive atmosphere witnessed at the Shusha Media Forum among international participants as well."

He explained that Azerbaijan is currently working on expanding its connectivity infrastructure, noting that the country did not expect its geographical location to become so significantly important in recent times.

Around 160 journalists and media officials representing 53 countries from across the world are participating in the two-day forum.
