The meeting was attended by Secretary-General of the Ministry of Agriculture Mohammad Al-Hayari, President of the General Farmers Union Odeh Rawashdeh, and Head of the Olive Press Owners Syndicate Taysir Al-Najdawi.
Participants agreed to continue monitoring prices and production levels, and in the event of a continued rise in prices, Jordan will open olive oil imports from reliable and approved sources to meet the local market’s needs.
It was also decided to allow each family arriving from Palestine to bring in five tins of olive oil for personal use, within specified limits and in accordance with existing regulations and procedures.
The participants stressed the importance of striking a balance between farmers’ and consumers’ interests, ensuring that olive oil remains available in good quality and at fair prices, while supporting the sustainability of the agricultural sector and the national product.
