In his remarks at the opening of the third edition of the Future of Media and Communication Forum held in Amman, Momeni stressed that Jordan is a supporter of moderation and stability and an enabler of media professionals.

He noted that Jordan believes freedom of expression is not only a human right but also a national security interest for the Kingdom—one that must be safeguarded.

Momeni affirmed that Jordan views freedom of expression as a cornerstone of thriving societies. He underlined that media disinformation and fake news are plagues that must be confronted due to the threat they pose to societal security.

He added that Jordan’s vision of press freedom and expression can be summed up in two words: “responsible freedom.” He emphasized the duty to shield societies from hate speech, affirming that the best way to counter disinformation is by disseminating accurate information.

Momeni continued: “We are trying to integrate concepts of literacy in artificial intelligence because it has become a necessity. Every pen and every platform must serve as a stronghold against media disinformation and fake news, as they pose a significant threat and challenge to national security and unity.”
