Held under the slogan “Test the Olive Oil and Make Sure It’s Genuine,” the campaign aims to protect Jordanian consumers from fraud, build trust in the country’s high-quality olive oil, and reinforce its role as a pillar of food security and national agricultural identity.
Minister Khreissat emphasized that the campaign reflects joint national efforts between the ministry and oversight agencies. It will include free testing services in selected agriculture directorates and at the National Agricultural Research Center, public awareness campaigns, the distribution of educational brochures, and the organization of the National Olive Festival and Rural Products Exhibition.
He urged citizens to purchase olive oil only from trusted sources, such as licensed mills, known farmers, and certified commercial outlets, while requesting receipts, testing the product before purchase, and avoiding misleading social media advertisements.
The meeting was attended by representatives from the Food and Drug Administration, Standards and Metrology Organization, Public Security Department/Cybercrime Unit, Customs Department, Ministry of Industry and Trade, National Agricultural Research Center, Royal Scientific Society, General Farmers Union, Olive Press Owners’ Syndicate, and associations concerned with olive oil.
The ministry confirmed that the campaign will run throughout the olive pressing season, calling on citizens to participate to ensure they obtain safe, authentic, and high-quality olive oil that reflects Jordan’s leading position regionally and internationally.
