This vital project was funded by the Jordan Phosphate Company, as part of the effective public-private partnership, reflecting the company’s national role in supporting infrastructure projects, particularly in areas hosting its industrial and mining facilities.

The project forms part of an integrated plan to rehabilitate this strategic road linking Ma’an Governorate with the Madoura area and Shidiya Mines. The road is a key logistical axis in southern Jordan, facilitating phosphate transport from the mines and enhancing commercial and tourism movement between Jordan and Saudi Arabia via the Madoura border crossing.

Works in the second package included road widening, rehabilitation of its infrastructure, asphalt paving, construction of rainwater drainage culverts, and improvement of traffic safety elements through installation of warning and directional signs, reflective markings, and guardrails.

All works were carried out to the highest quality standards, enhancing service levels, increasing road capacity, reducing traffic accidents, and ensuring long-term sustainability.

Minister of Public Works and Housing, Eng. Maher Abu-Samman, stated that this project is part of the ministry’s ongoing efforts to modernize and develop the national road network, especially roads connecting governorates, economic centers, and border crossings, due to their vital role in supporting the national economy and improving citizens’ quality of life.

He emphasized that the ministry continues to implement periodic and comprehensive maintenance programs for hundreds of kilometers of roads across the Kingdom, while securing the necessary funding for major road projects in partnership with leading national institutions.

Abu-Samman praised the Jordan Phosphate Company’s role in supporting this and other development initiatives, stressing that collaboration between government entities and national companies is a cornerstone for achieving sustainable development and enhancing investment in infrastructure.
