His Majesty King Abdullah II on Sunday reaffirmed Jordan’s categorical rejection of any Israeli measures to annex the West Bank or displace Palestinians, as well as any plans for Gaza’s future that involve the displacement of its people or its separation from the West Bank.

This came during talks His Majesty held with His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, at Al Shati Palace in Abu Dhabi, in the presence of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II.

The discussions covered the depth of the fraternal ties and the mutual keenness to strengthen and broaden cooperation and joint action across various fields, in a way that serves the interests of both countries and the causes of the Arab nation.

The two leaders affirmed their support for the rights of the brotherly Palestinian people and the continuation of efforts at the international level to push towards achieving a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution, which is the only path to stability in the region.

They also stressed the urgent need for an immediate halt to the war on Gaza and for sustaining the flow of aid through all possible means. The two leaders rejected Israeli plans aimed at entrenching the occupation of Gaza and expanding its military control.

The leaders underlined their rejection of settlement expansion plans in the West Bank, which undermine the two-state solution, threaten security and stability, and jeopardize the prospects of peace. They also rejected Israeli positions and statements that pose a threat to the sovereignty of regional states.

The talks were attended by Prime Minister Dr. Jaafar Hassan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi, and Director of His Majesty’s Office Eng. Alaa Al-Batayinah.

From the UAE side, attendees included His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court; His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi; Lt. General His Highness Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior; His Highness Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan; His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs; His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Affairs; and a number of senior officials.
