Higher Education sees fake certificates — adviser

AMMAN — Adviser to the Minister of Higher Education and Director of the Unified Admission Coordination Unit Muhannad Al-Khatib said that dozens of fake certificates are being presented to the ministry, Khaberni reported. The ministry’s certificate equivalency committee verifies certificates issued by foreign universities, and if there are any doubts about the validity of the seals or the information they contain, they get in touch with those universities to corroborate their authenticity, Khatib said. “We have made an amendment to extend the length of students’ stays abroad, which will be applied starting in September 2023, and students must adhere to it,” he said. He said that master’s students, whether humanities or science majors, must commit to staying for a period of at least eight months, an equivalent of two semesters, while PhD students must commit to staying for 20 months, or five semesters.
