The Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA) has shut down a workshop in the Hashemiyah area of Zarqa Governorate for operating without the required license to manufacture and mold cardboard plates and containers used to package and wrap food products.اضافة اعلان

The workshop was also found to be in violation of health requirements applicable to packaging facilities producing materials intended for contact with food.

In a statement Tuesday, the JFDA said a field inspection found inadequate health standards and unsuitable sanitary conditions for operation and manufacturing. Inspectors also seized nearly 3 tons of cardboard plates inside the workshop.

Based on the violations identified, the workshop was officially sealed with red wax, and legal action was taken against the operator, the agency said.

The JFDA reaffirmed that it will continue inspection and monitoring operations at various establishments and factories to ensure compliance with health requirements and take legal action against violators to safeguard public health and safety.

The agency urged consumers not to purchase such products unless they carry an indication that they are suitable for food use and are free of impurities and unusual odors.

It also called on the public to report any observations, violations or inquiries through its official complaints platform via WhatsApp at 0795632000, or through the toll-free complaints hotline at 117114.
