Acting Director General of the Jordan Standards and Metrology Organization, Engineer Wafaa Al-Momani, stressed the organization’s commitment to developing the national standardization system and keeping pace with international references in ways that promote accessibility and inclusion and improve the quality of services provided to all segments of society.

In remarks to the Jordan News Agency (Petra), Al-Momani said Jordanian Standard JS ISO/IEC 10779:2026, adopted from ISO/IEC 10779:2020, covers “Information technology — Office equipment — Accessibility guidelines for older persons and persons with disabilities.”

The standard provides guidance to help address the needs of these groups when designing, developing and evaluating office equipment, thereby improving usability and access to its functions.

She added that the second Jordanian standard, JS ISO 21001:2026, adopted from ISO 21001:2025, concerns “Educational organizations — Management systems for educational organizations — Requirements with guidance for use.”

The standard aims to develop educational organization management systems, improve the quality of their services and strengthen their ability to meet the needs of learners and other relevant stakeholders. It also supports the creation of inclusive educational environments that take into account the diverse needs of learners, including persons with disabilities.

Al-Momani explained that adopting the two standards forms part of the standardization sector’s role in promoting accessibility and reducing barriers that some segments of society may face when accessing and benefiting from services. This is consistent with national efforts to strengthen the rights and empowerment of persons with disabilities and supports initiatives led by the Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

She noted that the organization continues to fulfill its national role in developing Jordanian standards based on international references, helping enhance quality, consolidate the principles of inclusion and accessibility, and improve the services provided to society.
