The figure reflects the directorate’s efforts to respond quickly to consumer complaints and follow up on them in accordance with applicable legislation.

Official statistics issued by the directorate showed a significant increase in the number of complaints received during the same period, reaching 1,892 compared with 788 by the end of August last year. The increase indicates greater reliance by consumers on the relevant authorities to assert their rights and reflects strengthened market oversight.

As part of its follow-up and legal action against non-compliant businesses, the directorate issued 52 notices and recorded 48 violations against entities that failed to comply with the relevant regulations.

The complaints covered several sectors, with e-commerce accounting for the largest share at 423 complaints, or 22% of the total. The electrical appliances sector followed with 387 complaints (20%), while the automotive sector recorded 340 complaints (18%). Furniture accounted for 201 complaints (11%), and services for 199 complaints (11%).

By type of complaint, issues related to warranties and contracts topped the list with 902 complaints, representing 48% of the total. Complaints concerning defective goods or services followed with 756 cases (40%), while misleading advertising complaints accounted for 165 cases (9%).

The high percentage of resolved complaints comes as part of the Consumer Protection Directorate’s efforts to accelerate responses to consumer grievances, conduct field and legal follow-ups, and intensify inspection campaigns in markets. These measures aim to protect consumer rights and ensure the quality of goods and services provided to the public.
