The Eastern Military Zone, at dawn on Monday, foiled an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of narcotics using guided balloons along one of its border fronts within its area of responsibility.

Border Guard units detected the balloons, handled them, and brought them down inside Jordanian territory, securing their payload in coordination with military security agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department (AND). The seized items were subsequently referred to the competent authorities to take the necessary measures.
Foiling this attempt underscores the vigilance of Border Guard units and their readiness to counter various smuggling tactics, regardless of how advanced the methods or altered the execution techniques may be. The Jordanian Armed Forces – Arab Army reaffirms that it will not permit the Kingdom's borders to become an arena for smuggling or tampering with national security, and will deal with utmost firmness and force against any attempt targeting the security and territorial integrity of the homeland.
