Draft Regulation for Tourist Car Rental Offices Undermines Investment Security in Jordan
Marwan Akoubah, President of the Syndicate of Car Rental Office Owners, asserted that the draft regulation for licensing car rental companies and offices—recently presented by the Legislation and Opinion Bureau—threatens the security of investment in Jordan.اضافة اعلان

Akoubah stated that reducing the duration of investment contracts from 10 years to a single year (renewable only upon the approval of the Director General of the Land Transport Regulatory Commission) is a "very dangerous" move that serves only to destabilize the investment environment.

"Who would establish a company with a capital of half a million dinars under the new system in exchange for a one-year investment contract?" Akoubah questioned, emphasizing that such a clause acts as a deterrent rather than an incentive for investing in Jordan.

Key Demands and Concerns:
Contract Duration: The Syndicate demands a return to the previous 10-year investment contract to ensure long-term stability.

Capital Requirements: Akoubah called for a reversal of the decision to raise the minimum capital to JOD 500,000, arguing that current companies need more feasible terms to align their status with new regulations.

Economic Impact: He explained that existing firms cannot meet these new conditions, which could lead to the closure of these investments and the loss of over 2,000 jobs in the sector.
