A spokesperson for the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated on Thursday that a date has not yet been set for the second round of talks between the United States and Iran. Diplomatic Mediation
On Wednesday, Iran received a Pakistani delegation led by Army Chief Asim Munir, according to Iranian state television. This follows Tehran’s confirmation that communication with Washington via Islamabad has continued despite the failure of negotiations held last weekend.
Escalating Tensions and Blockades
The diplomatic efforts come amid a volatile military situation:
U.S. Naval Blockade: The United States imposed a naval blockade on Iranian ports starting Monday, following the collapse of negotiations in Islamabad on Saturday.
Iranian Threats: Iran has threatened to impose its own naval blockade on the Red Sea—despite not having a direct coastline on it—should the U.S. blockade persist. Tehran warned that the continued closure of its ports could lead to a breach of the existing ceasefire.
