Ajloun Agriculture Director Saitan Al-Sarhan said the directorate is monitoring the mills through field visits to verify their compliance with approved regulations and requirements. He noted that the governorate has 15 olive mills operating during the current harvest season.

“The inspections aim to preserve product quality and ensure that the necessary procedures are followed when handling olives and pressing waste, helping protect the environment and reduce the negative impacts of processing operations,” Al-Sarhan said.

Kufranjah District Agriculture Director Hazem Amawi said the directorate’s teams are monitoring the operations of olive mills in the district and conducting field visits to ensure compliance with regulations governing pressing operations.

He stressed the importance of cooperation among farmers, mill owners and regulatory authorities to ensure a successful season.

Amawi noted that the olive harvest is one of the key agricultural seasons in Ajloun Governorate because of its economic, social and heritage value. He said this requires coordinated efforts by relevant authorities, farmers and mill owners to maintain production quality and ensure the sustainability of environmental resources.
