With digital tools being used to deliver knowledge and enhance interaction in the classroom, questions are emerging about how teachers can benefit from modern technologies to improve their teaching practices and move from traditional approaches toward more interactive methods that respond to students’ needs.

Education experts said teachers are capable of adapting to technological changes and developing their teaching practices in ways that strengthen their ability to use modern technologies according to educational objectives and students’ needs.

They noted that the benefits of technology in education depend on its contribution to improving teaching practices and increasing student engagement, within an educational environment that provides teachers with the necessary support and resources.

In separate statements to Al-Ghad, they said teachers’ ability to adapt to technological changes varies according to their experience, qualifications and skills in using digital tools. They stressed that benefiting from technology is not limited to providing devices and platforms, but depends on how these tools are used to support teaching and meet students’ needs.

They explained that integrating technology into education requires continuous development of teachers’ skills through practical training programs that help them use digital tools and artificial intelligence applications in the classroom, rather than relying solely on theoretical training. Such efforts should also take into account ethical considerations and establish safeguards to ensure that these tools are used safely and purposefully in education and academic research.

Keeping Pace With Change

Education expert Faisal Tayah said teachers’ ability to keep pace with technological changes depends on several factors, including professional experience, opportunities for training and development, the nature of the school environment and available resources. He noted that levels of digital readiness vary among teachers.

He explained that integrating technology into education is not simply a matter of providing devices and platforms, but depends on how effectively they are used to support teaching and meet students’ needs. This requires selecting tools and strategies that are appropriate to educational objectives and the nature of the subject being taught.

Tayah added that the use of interactive screens and educational platforms does not necessarily change teaching methods unless it is accompanied by practices that increase student participation, develop critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills, and take individual differences among students into account.

He stressed that this does not diminish the importance of direct instruction or traditional teaching methods, which may be appropriate in certain educational situations. Rather, it calls for diversifying teaching strategies according to students’ needs and lesson objectives, with technology serving as a means of supporting learning rather than an end in itself.

He highlighted the importance of providing teachers with continuous, practical training that goes beyond introducing them to platforms and applications. Training should also cover the design of digital activities, the use of assessment tools, the provision of feedback and the use of student performance data to identify strengths and learning difficulties.

Tayah also pointed to the role of school leadership in creating a supportive environment for professional development and the exchange of expertise, as well as the importance of suitable infrastructure, reliable internet connectivity, appropriate digital content and technical and educational support, while taking into account differences in resources among schools.

Regarding artificial intelligence applications, Tayah said they provide opportunities to diversify activities, prepare educational resources and address students’ individual needs. However, students must also be taught how to use such tools responsibly, verify information and respect privacy, while maintaining the teacher’s role in guiding learning and understanding students’ needs.

He said the success of technology integration in education should be assessed based on its impact on student learning and engagement, its contribution to developing their skills and its ability to provide feedback that helps improve performance, rather than by the number of digital tools being used.

Tayah affirmed that teachers are capable of keeping pace with technological changes and developing their teaching practices, strengthening their ability to use modern technologies in line with educational objectives and students’ needs.

He concluded that the benefits of technology depend on the extent to which it contributes to improving teaching practices and increasing student engagement within an educational environment that provides teachers with the necessary support and resources.

Creating a Supportive Environment

Education expert Mohammad Al-Samadi said teachers’ ability to keep pace with digital transformation in education depends on the availability of training and professional development opportunities, technical support and their willingness to incorporate technological tools into their teaching practices in ways that meet students’ needs and educational requirements.

He explained that using technology requires continuous development of teachers’ skills through practical training programs that help them use digital tools and artificial intelligence applications in the classroom, rather than relying solely on theoretical training.

He also stressed the importance of ethical considerations and establishing safeguards to ensure that these tools are used safely and purposefully in education and academic research.

Al-Samadi said keeping pace with digital transformation requires a supportive school environment that enables teachers to apply the skills they acquire and provides the necessary technical assistance. This should also take into account the administrative burdens placed on teachers, allowing them to focus on their teaching responsibilities and professional development.

He said digital transformation in education is linked to the Economic Modernisation Vision and its efforts to build a sustainable knowledge-based economy and develop skilled professionals capable of meeting labor-market requirements.

He added that ensuring continuity and quality of learning and providing educational opportunities to different groups of students strengthen the concept of educational security, which in turn is linked to national security by preparing generations with the knowledge and skills needed to deal with the changes of the modern era.

He stressed that achieving tangible results requires sustainable professional development programs, stronger institutional support for teachers and monitoring the impact of training on classroom practices. This would help ensure the effective use of technology and support the development of a more interactive and flexible educational environment that responds to students’ needs and future requirements.

Developing the Teacher’s Role

Education expert Mohammad Abu Amara said teachers’ ability to keep pace with technological changes varies according to their experience, qualifications and skills in using digital tools, highlighting the importance of continuously developing these skills to meet the requirements of the educational process.

Abu Amara explained that digital transformation is not limited to introducing devices and platforms into classrooms, but depends on how they are used to develop teaching methods and improve student learning.

He noted that using technology to present content does not necessarily result in interactive learning unless it is accompanied by diversified teaching practices and greater student participation in the learning process.

He added that digital tools provide opportunities to diversify educational activities through project-based learning, collaborative learning, digital simulations and flipped classrooms, as well as through the use of artificial intelligence applications to support learning.

This requires expanding the teacher’s role to include facilitating learning and guiding students in searching for knowledge, analyzing it, verifying its accuracy and applying it.

He stressed the importance of continuous teacher training covering practical aspects related to lesson planning, activity design, diversification of teaching strategies, feedback and consideration of individual differences among students.

Such training would help teachers use technology according to lesson objectives and learners’ needs.

He noted that differences in experience and digital skills, as well as varying levels of acceptance of modern teaching practices, can affect the extent to which technology is used effectively.

This highlights the importance of creating a supportive school environment that encourages knowledge-sharing, experimentation and professional development and gives teachers opportunities to apply newly acquired skills in the classroom.

Abu Amara said the success of digital transformation depends on integrating teacher training and the development of their digital and educational competencies with the provision of the necessary tools and resources.

He stressed that the impact of technology on education is ultimately determined by the extent to which it improves teaching practices, enhances student participation and helps achieve learning objectives.
