Minister of Awqaf, Islamic Affairs and Holy Sites Mohammad Al-Khalaileh previously announced that Jordan’s quota for the upcoming Hajj season amounts to 8,000 pilgrims, in addition to 4,500 pilgrims from Arabs of 1948.

During a press conference held last Tuesday at the Islamic Cultural Center – King Abdullah I Mosque, to announce this year’s Hajj arrangements, Al-Khalaileh said that those born on March 31, 1954, or earlier were selected, while a lottery was conducted to choose 1,300 pilgrims from among those registered on the website (born in 1980 or earlier), out of approximately 28,000 registered citizens.

The minister stressed that Hajj visas will not be granted to individuals suffering from failure of a major organ, neurological or psychological illnesses that impair cognition, senility accompanied by dementia, pregnancy in the last two months, active cancer, or infectious diseases.

He emphasized that compliance with health requirements is mandatory, urging those concerned to visit approved health centers to obtain a medical fitness certificate, noting that no Hajj permit will be issued without presenting the required health certificate.

Secretary General for Primary Health Care and Epidemics at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Riyadh Al-Shayyab, said on Tuesday that 100 comprehensive health centers across the Kingdom have been designated to monitor the health status of Jordanian pilgrims and issue the necessary medical certificates.

Al-Shayyab added that these centers are equipped with specialist physicians who assess pilgrims’ health conditions and ensure their medical fitness to perform Hajj in accordance with the required health conditions.

He noted that pilgrims will undergo clinical examinations and laboratory tests at the approved health centers to ensure their ability to perform the Hajj rituals.

Al-Shayyab clarified that cancer patients are not generally prohibited from performing Hajj; however, in advanced cases involving weakened immune systems, it may be difficult for such patients to undertake the pilgrimage.
