In a statement, the committee’s chairman, MP Eng. Haitham Al-Ziyadin, described the attack as a serious and blatant violation of international law and the Geneva Conventions, directly infringing upon the sanctity of United Nations premises and their special status.
Al-Ziyadin emphasized that the actions of the occupation forces are not merely a legal breach but a dangerous escalation aimed at intimidating international humanitarian organizations and obstructing their work, in a desperate attempt to pressure refugees and undermine their established rights.
He affirmed that such aggressive behavior will not deter Jordan from its duty to support the resilience of the Palestinian people and protect Jerusalem and its holy sites.
The committee called on the international community and the UN Security Council to urgently intervene to halt these assaults, protect UN premises in the occupied Palestinian territories, and hold the Israeli government fully accountable for the consequences of this escalation on regional security and stability.
The committee also reiterated full support for UNRWA and stressed the need to enable it to continue its humanitarian mission under its UN mandate.
Finally, it reaffirmed Jordan’s steadfast position, led by King Abdullah II, in supporting the Palestinian cause and the Palestinian people’s right to establish their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
