Majali told Al-Mamlaka TV that this decision “affirms that the achievements and figures in 2023 will be as we had hoped”.

Numerous tourism and travel agents — as many as 20 — have signed contracts with Jordan, he added.

During 2022 more than 2 million visited Aqaba, he added, noting that the number of hotel reservations to Aqaba exceeded 1 million for the same year.

March and April were the two preferred months for tourists. They were also the liveliest in terms of tourism, particularly in Aqaba, reported Al-Mamlaka.

"We, alongside our partners the Jordan Tourism Board and the Ministry of Tourism, are working  to market Aqaba and Jordan more widely by participating in global travel fairs,” said Majali.

On January 25, the Logos Hope, the largest floating library will be docking in Aqaba and will remain for 20 days, added Majali.

The ship will open its doors to the public till February 15 and will sell books at nominal and reduced prices.

The books in the library will cover various scientific, literary, cultural, and other themes including children’s books.
