Kingdom’s tourism income rose by 110.5% in 2022

AMMAN — Jordan's 2022 tourism revenues increased by 110.5 percent compared to the previous year’s tourism income (around $2.7 billion), to reach $5.816 billion, according to data issued by the Central Bank of Jordan (CBJ). The CBJ attributed this growth to an increase in the number of tourists arrivals by about 2.69 million, with a total of 5.05 million tourist arrivals in 2022, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. Tourism income for last year also slightly exceeded its pre-pandemic levels, up 0.4 percent from 2019 figures. Meanwhile, Jordanians' spending on international tourism reached $1.467 billion in 2022 — 59.6 percent more than 2021 spending. This accompanied a 58.3 percent rise in the number of Jordanian tourists who travelled abroad last year, the CBJ data showed. The CBJ attributed this growth to an increase in the number of tourists arrivals by about 2.69 million, with a total of 5.05 million tourist arrivals in 2022, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Tourism income for last year also slightly exceeded its pre-pandemic levels, up 0.4 percent from 2019 figures.

Meanwhile, Jordanians' spending on international tourism reached $1.467 billion in 2022 — 59.6 percent more than 2021 spending. This accompanied a 58.3 percent rise in the number of Jordanian tourists who travelled abroad last year, the CBJ data showed.
