Border Guard units in the Eastern Military Region shot down a number of guided balloons carrying narcotics over Jordanian territory early Sunday, foiling an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of drugs into the Kingdom.

The units detected the balloons, brought them down and seized their cargo, working with security and military agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department. The haul was handed to the relevant authorities for legal proceedings.
In a statement, the Jordanian Armed Forces said it would continue to confront smuggling and infiltration attempts along the borders with force, tracking the range of methods used and taking the operational measures needed to stop them.
