The Anti-Narcotics Department (AND), in coordination with the Directorate of Media and Community Police, announced the launch of intensified security and operational campaigns targeting the lethal and addictive substance known as crystal meth, accompanied by a specialized media awareness campaign warning of its devastating and deadly hazards.
The campaign forms part of ongoing security and preventive efforts to eradicate the substance and apprehend anyone involved in its dealing or distribution as a criminal and murderer. It also aims to educate society about its dangers, promote public awareness against its use, protect all segments of society, and apply the maximum penalties against traffickers and dealers.
The AND emphasized that crystal meth is inherently fatal and stands among the most highly toxic chemical drugs, severely impacting physical, psychological, and mental health. It triggers rapid addiction, severe cognitive and behavioral disruptions, and critical organ damage—particularly affecting the brain and lungs—while driving users toward extreme aggression, loss of self-control, and the commission of horrific crimes.
The campaign centers on two main pillars: an operational and security track to crack down on all forms of trafficking, promotion, smuggling, and consumption; and an educational awareness track broadcasting informative messages and media content. These efforts aim to clarify the nature of the drug, signs of abuse, and its dangerous repercussions, thereby fostering public awareness and reinforcing the role of families and community institutions in prevention and early intervention.
The department urged everyone to contribute to the campaign by spreading community awareness and confidentially reporting any individuals involved in trafficking, promoting, or using crystal meth via the unified emergency number 911, assuring that all leads will be investigated strictly and with total confidentiality.
