Amman Day festivities to light up capitol on Thursday

AMMAN — Today, the Greater Amman Municipality is celebrating Amman Day. The occasion falls on March 2 each year and offers an opportunity to remember the history of the city, anticipate its future, and keep pace with its continuous development through service projects.اضافة اعلان

In a statement carried by Al-Mamlaka TV, the municipality said it has prepared a ceremonial program for the occasion, including festivities on Thursday evening at King Faisal Square in the city center, sponsored by Amman Mayor Youssef Al-Shawarbeh.

The festivities include a free book distribution, performances from Jordanian folklore by the Amman Municipality Band, musical compositions by the Jordan Armed Forces Band, a performance by the Public Security Ceremonies Group, traditional Jordanian songs, and activities for children including face painting and balloons.

Activities, events, landmark lightingsPreviously, the municipality had also announced a photography competition titled “Amman through our eyes” in honor of the occasion.

On Friday, a sporting activity for cycling enthusiasts is scheduled to take place on 60th Street in the capital.

The celebrations also include the opening of neighborhood playgrounds, rehabilitated parks, and outdoor sports equipment sites, as well as free entry to local museums and the lighting of city landmarks including Jabal Al-Qalaa, the Amman City Hall, Abdoun Bridge, and the Roman Theater.

Other activities in honor of the occasion will be held over the coming days, including cultural, artistic and sports activities and events. All details will be announced on the official social media pages of the Greater Amman Municipality.
