During the meeting, held on the sidelines of the Saudi International Railway Conference in Riyadh — with wide Arab and international participation — Al-Qatamin stressed that the decision negatively affects Jordanian pilgrims, particularly the elderly, and has adverse implications for Jordan’s tourism and international transport sector.
The Saudi minister expressed great understanding of the Jordanian concerns and promised to explore positive solutions with the relevant authorities in Saudi Arabia to address the issue.
In a previous interview with Al Mamlaka, Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Mohammad Al-Khalaileh said that Saudi Arabia had informed Jordan of its decision to ban Jordanian buses from entering its territory during the upcoming Hajj season, stating that Saudi buses will handle the internal transport of pilgrims within the Kingdom.
Al-Khalaileh explained that this measure would add extra costs to both pilgrims and Jordan’s Hajj organization, noting that Hajj expenses have been rising annually due to several factors, including health insurance, transportation costs, and the increasing prices of service providers in Saudi Arabia.
