Today, Sunday, Health Minister Dr. Ibrahim Al-Badour addressed the Minister of Education and Higher Education, calling for the implementation of measures in school canteens.

In his urgent letter, Al-Badour emphasized actions necessary to protect the health and safety of students and teaching staff, ensuring a safe and healthy environment in line with Ministry of Health regulations.
The Health Minister requested that the Ministry of Education instruct relevant personnel to undertake the following measures:
Disseminate Health Standards: Circulate the health requirements for school canteens, including permitted and prohibited foods, to all schools for compliance.
Monitor School Health Programs: Ensure adherence to the school health program, particularly regarding canteens.
Approved Restaurants Only: Confirm that school canteens source food from licensed and approved restaurants.
Coordinate with Food and Drug Authority: Provide the General Food and Drug Administration with a list of approved restaurants supplying schools to enhance inspection and ensure compliance with health standards for proactive prevention of any risks to student safety.
Ban Street Vendors Near Schools: Prevent unauthorized street vendors from selling food in school surroundings.
