This came during Dr. Al-Bdour’s visit on Tuesday morning to the National Center for Mental Health, where he toured various departments and closely examined the level of services offered in diagnostic and psychiatric treatment clinics, in addition to inspecting the forensic unit dedicated to patients referred through judicial authorities.
The Minister met with patients and listened to their feedback as well as that of the medical and administrative staff, highlighting the key challenges they face in the field of mental health.
He emphasized the importance of strengthening the infrastructure of the forensic unit to ensure a safe, dignified, and specialized environment for patients, while also improving coordination mechanisms with judicial authorities to streamline referral and follow-up procedures.
Al-Bdour announced that a “comprehensive review” of psychiatric and mental health care will be conducted to enhance technical and medical capabilities, as part of an overarching strategy that takes into account the therapeutic, legal, and humanitarian dimensions of patient care.
