Al-Momani outlined the organization’s latest enforcement efforts, revealing that authorities have seized nearly 35,000 heaters found to be non-compliant or suspected of failing to meet technical standards. She also said approximately 50,000 disassembled heaters intended for assembly inside Jordan were prevented from entering the country.

She added that 226 cases involving traders dealing in non-compliant products have been referred to the judiciary. The organization has also intensified inspections at markets and border crossings while requiring importers and manufacturers to conduct technical testing in accordance with approved standards.

For his part, Abu Hanieh stressed the importance of continuing market inspection campaigns and tackling misleading advertisements promoting products that claim to save energy without verified technical evidence. He also called for stronger oversight of e-commerce and expanded public awareness campaigns to protect consumers from substandard products.

He emphasized that the safety of products available in the local market is a national priority because of its direct impact on consumer protection and energy efficiency. He reaffirmed the committee’s support for efforts to strengthen regulatory oversight and improve compliance with national standards.

Abu Hanieh also underscored the need to ensure safety and performance requirements for energy storage batteries, enforce the relevant technical standards, and monitor the efficiency of electrical appliances and energy-efficiency labels to ensure that safe and energy-saving products are available in the Jordanian market.

Committee members Jamal Qamouh, Khader Bani Khaled, and Talal Al-Nsour also called for strengthening the Jordan Standards and Metrology Organization’s regulatory and technical capabilities and imposing tougher penalties on those trading in non-compliant products to better protect consumers and curb the circulation of unsafe goods.
