Around 1.6 million male and female students will return to schools across the Kingdom on Sunday as the 2025/2026 academic year officially begins.

The Ministry of Education explained that student numbers in public schools may increase or decrease depending on transfers and registrations at the start of the school year tomorrow.
The ministry announced that all necessary preparations have been completed to welcome students, including the distribution of textbooks, preparation of classrooms, provision of furniture, and finalization of teacher transfers.
Teaching staff had already resumed work last Sunday, during which textbooks were handed out to students and registration procedures for transferred and newly enrolled students were finalized.
According to ministry statistics, a total of 7,843 schools will welcome students this year. The number of female students reached 1,139,784, while the number of male students stood at 1,168,464. Of these, 833,115 girls and 749,645 boys are enrolled in Ministry of Education schools; 253,008 girls and 347,076 boys in private schools; 50,728 girls and 52,829 boys in UNRWA schools; and 2,933 girls and 18,914 boys in military culture schools.
The ministry noted that the total number of teachers reached 163,425, including 99,017 in Ministry schools, 58,319 in private education, 2,319 in military culture schools, and 3,770 in UNRWA schools. Administrative staff numbered 43,065, of whom 20,357 work for the Ministry of Education.
Out of the 7,843 schools, 4,049 belong to the Ministry of Education, 3,532 to the private sector, 55 to military culture education, and 162 to UNRWA. The Ministry of Education alone runs 59,484 classrooms.
Secretary-General of the Ministry for Administrative and Financial Affairs Sahar Al-Shakhatreh said the ministry has finalized all preparations for the new academic year, stressing that measures are in place to ensure a smooth start for students.
She added that the ministry has worked on maintaining and producing school desks, praising the efforts of schools and vocational workshops that contributed significantly to meeting the needs of educational institutions.
Al-Shakhatreh also noted that 30 new public schools have been handed over this year in various regions of the Kingdom. She urged ministry departments to enhance communication with the educational field and ensure continuous follow-up on preparations, in order to overcome challenges and maximize strengths, thus ensuring that schools are ready to serve students at the highest level.
