Three more Jordanians qualify for Tokyo Paralympics

AMMAN — National Paralympic Team powerlifters Asmaa Issa, (79kg weight class), Tharwat Al-Hajjaj, (86kg weight class), and Muhammad Tarbash, (65kg weight class), qualified for the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics, raising the number of Jordanian powerlifters who have officially qualified for the Games to five. اضافة اعلان

During the Fazza International Weightlifting Championship held at the Dubai Club Hall for People of Determination, the three players succeeded in lifting the qualifying weight for the Paralympic Games.

Abdul Karim Khattab, Jordan Paralympic weight lifting champion, has broken the world record in the 88kg weight class to win gold and qualify for the Tokyo Paralympic Games, whereas Omar Qaradah also won the 49kg-weight class gold medal after lifting 175kg and qualifying for the main event in Tokyo.

Jordan Olympic Committee Secretary General Nasser Al-Majali praised the achievements of the Kingdom’s athletes, posting on Facebook: "Our Paralympic weightlifting team continues to shine and book spots at the Paralympics (Tokyo 2020).”
