According to Jordan’s football stakeholders, the top priority now is to rehabilitate local football stadiums, particularly their playing surfaces, which currently suffer from numerous issues that have sparked widespread criticism.
Speaking to the Jordan News Agency (Petra), several figures in the football scene emphasized that the current stadiums require comprehensive maintenance and upgrades that reflect the national team’s growing success on various fronts.
The sports community has expressed optimism about improving stadiums across Amman and other governorates, given the attention of Prime Minister Dr. Jaafar Hassan, who has made repeated visits to sports complexes and directed officials to prioritize stadium maintenance and rehabilitation in a way that befits the progress of Jordanian football.
Coach Osama Qassem said that stadium conditions are among the most critical issues facing Jordanian football, noting that better and more suitable pitches are essential for developing the game.
Qassem added that most of the main stadium surfaces in Jordan are not ideal for playing football, calling for serious attention to this matter.
Former national team player and current coach Ahmad Hayel also urged the restoration of stadium turf, explaining that poor pitch quality negatively affects players’ performance in domestic competitions.
He stressed that the national team’s qualification for the World Cup calls for greater focus on improving local stadium grounds, which currently suffer from uneven surfaces, unsuitable natural grass, and recurring damage that affects playing quality.
National coach Islam Jalal agreed, noting that the poor condition of most football pitches in Jordan hampers technical performance. He added that Jordan’s football achievements deserve better stadiums, including a larger venue capable of accommodating the growing number of fans — especially during national team matches.
A large number of fans praised the Prime Minister’s field visits to sports facilities, viewing them as a positive step toward effectively upgrading the country’s stadium infrastructure.
