The Abu Dhabi Fund for Development announced Wednesday new financing for Jordan totaling $410 million, including $300 million in concessional financing to support the government budget and $110 million for new development projects.

The announcement came during a visit to Jordan by Mohammed Al Suwaidi, director-general of the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development.
The development projects include the construction of five vocational and technical education schools meeting modern standards at a cost of nearly $40 million. The schools will be established in Amman, Mafraq, Jerash and Irbid governorates as part of the government’s strategy to expand vocational and technical education.
The fund will also finance projects to supply Al-Rawda Industrial City in Ma’an Governorate and Al-Muwaqqar Industrial City with natural gas, with a total value of $70 million. Studies will also be conducted to assess extending the financing to supply the King Hussein Development Zone in Mafraq with natural gas.
The projects are part of Jordan’s plan to supply industrial cities and clusters with natural gas, with the aim of supporting industries, reducing energy costs, improving the business environment and strengthening the competitiveness of Jordanian products in domestic and international markets.
Al Suwaidi said the exceptional relations between Jordan and the UAE represent an established model of constructive cooperation, expressing the fund’s pride in its historic partnership with Jordan and its role in supporting the Kingdom’s development efforts, plans and national priorities.
Over the past five years, the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development has provided Jordan with assistance and grants totaling nearly $1 billion, supporting projects in education, energy, digital transformation at the Ministry of Health and the development of land surrounding the Baptism Site.
Prime Minister Jafar Hassan received Al Suwaidi at the Prime Ministry on Wednesday during his visit to Jordan to sign the financing agreements covering vocational and technical education, energy projects and budget support.
Hassan emphasized the depth of the close ties between Jordan and the UAE and the advanced level of cooperation between the two countries, reflected in their continued implementation of joint economic and development projects.
He expressed Jordan’s appreciation for the UAE’s support for the Kingdom’s economic development efforts, describing it as part of the strategic partnership between the two countries and their leaderships’ commitment to strengthening cooperation, particularly in economic and development fields.
Hassan also praised the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development for supporting strategic and essential projects in Jordan, stressing the importance of building on the partnership and expanding it into additional areas serving the interests of both countries.
