Jordan’s Department of Statistics said the 2026 population census is still underway, adding that it is too early to discuss completion rates just 18 days after the census began. However, census activities are proceeding according to plan.اضافة اعلان

In statements to Al-Ghad, the department said households have been cooperative with census workers and that there is flexibility in scheduling visits. Field teams are working throughout the week, including Fridays and Saturdays, while some households arrange visit times directly with the assigned enumerator according to their availability and circumstances.

The department emphasized that Jordanians are a hospitable people, noting that census workers have been warmly received and that households have shown full cooperation. It said flexible working arrangements have made the enumerators’ task easier.

Most census workers are teachers from the Ministry of Education, with women accounting for more than 60% of the workforce. Statistical “blocks” have been assigned to them in the same areas where they teach, meaning they are already familiar to local residents.

The 2026 Population and Housing Census began at the start of October across the Kingdom under the slogan “Our Census for a Better Future.” It is the seventh census in Jordan’s history, involving around 12,000 male and female enumerators who are collecting and updating data on approximately 2.5 million households. The process will continue until the end of the month.

The census aims to provide accurate and up-to-date data on the population, households and housing units, including their characteristics and geographic distribution. The data will support planning and decision-making and help direct projects and services according to actual needs across different parts of the Kingdom.

The Department of Statistics has also activated a dedicated census call center through the toll-free number 117110 to answer citizens’ inquiries and receive their comments.
