During the meeting, Hassan stressed the depth of the close and longstanding ties between Jordan and the UAE, as well as the advanced level of cooperation between the two countries, reflected in their continued implementation of a number of joint economic and development projects.
He expressed Jordan’s appreciation for the UAE’s support for the Kingdom’s economic development efforts, describing the cooperation as part of the strategic partnership between the two countries and a reflection of their leaderships’ commitment to expanding cooperation across various fields, particularly economic and development-related areas.
Hassan also praised the role of the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development in supporting strategic and essential projects in Jordan, stressing the importance of building on and expanding the partnership into additional areas that serve the interests of both countries.
Al Suwaidi, for his part, said the exceptional relations between Jordan and the UAE represent a firmly established model of constructive cooperation.
He expressed the fund’s pride in its historic partnership with Jordan and its role in supporting the Kingdom’s development efforts, plans and national priorities.
The projects to be financed by the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development include the construction of five vocational and technical education schools equipped to modern standards, at a cost of nearly $40 million. The schools will be established in Amman, Mafraq, Jerash and Irbid governorates as part of the government’s strategy to expand vocational and technical education.
The fund will also finance two projects to supply Al-Rawda Industrial City in Ma’an Governorate and Al-Muwaqqar Industrial City with natural gas. Studies will also be conducted to assess extending financing to supply the King Hussein Development Zone in Mafraq with natural gas.
The total value of the energy projects is $70 million. The projects form part of the government’s plan to supply industrial cities and clusters with natural gas to support industries, reduce energy costs, improve the business environment and strengthen the competitiveness of Jordanian products in domestic and international markets.
Over the past five years, the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development has provided Jordan with assistance and grants worth nearly $1 billion, supporting projects in education, energy, digital transformation in the Ministry of Health, and the development of land surrounding the Baptism Site.
The fund also provided Jordan with $300 million in new concessional financing on Wednesday to support the state budget.
