The Israeli army on Wednesday installed a gate on the only road leading to three Palestinian homes surrounded by Israeli forces and settlers in the Ras Al-Ain area of Qusra, south of Nablus in the occupied West Bank, effectively cutting the homes off from their surroundings.

Qusra Mayor Abdul Azim Wadi said Israeli forces installed the gate on the sole road leading to the three homes, further worsening the residents’ hardship as the blockade enters its 18th consecutive day, amid the continued presence of settlers in the area.
Wadi said the families are suffering from shortages of food and medication as the area remains closed and restrictions on residents’ movement continue.
Israeli settlers have surrounded the three Palestinian homes in Ras Al-Ain for 18 days, while the Israeli army has declared the area a closed military zone, preventing residents from reaching their homes and land.
The latest measures come amid escalating Israeli military and settler attacks in Qusra and surrounding areas, including road closures, the installation of gates and checkpoints, and settler assaults. Palestinians fear the measures could lead to the forced displacement of residents from the area.
The occupied West Bank has witnessed a rise in attacks by Israeli forces and settlers since the outbreak of the war in Gaza in 2023. According to Palestinian figures, more than 1,182 Palestinians have been killed and thousands wounded in the West Bank, while around 24,000 have been arrested.
Since the beginning of 2026, the escalation in the West Bank has killed 87 Palestinians, alongside continued expansion of settlement outposts, the construction of roads and further restrictions on Palestinian movement.
