Jordan thrashes Nepal, breaks second-place tie with Kuwait

AMMAN —Jordan defeated Nepal (3-0) on Monday evening in the Kingdom’s first game in the second stage of the 2022 Qatar World Cup and 2023 Asia Cup qualifiers.اضافة اعلان

Jordan and Qatar — both in Group B — faced off at the Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium in Kuwait.

Jordan’s Bahaa Faisal scored the match opener with a penalty (23 minutes), before scoring his second goal (48 minutes) with a free kick. Yazan Al-Arab scored Jordan’s third goal with a head with a header (67 minutes).

The previous round of matches saw Australia defeat Kuwait (3-0) and Nepal beat China (2-0). Australia has so far secured a distant lead with 15 points, while Jordan broke its tie with Kuwait for second place, giving the former a score of 13 points and the latter 10 points. Nepal remains in fourth place with 6 points and China in fifth with null.

Jordan is scheduled to face Kuwait at 10pm on Friday in a match that will determine the identity of the team that will bag the runner up’s qualification card and join Australia in the final round of World Cup qualifiers.
