Jordan has made a notable advance in the 2026 Global Innovation Index, published by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), climbing to 60th place among 139 economies and ranking fifth in the Arab world.اضافة اعلان

The kingdom rose five places in a single year, up from 65th in 2025, and 13 places over two years, up from 73rd in 2024. Since 2019, when Jordan stood at 86th, it has climbed a total of 26 positions.

The ranking of 60th means Jordan has already exceeded the target set under the Economic Modernization Vision - reaching 63rd by 2033 - surpassing that goal by three places and seven years ahead of schedule.

At the Arab level, Jordan placed fifth, behind the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Morocco.

Jordan's progress was not limited to its overall ranking. The 2026 Global Innovation Index report identified the kingdom among the economies that have achieved the strongest sustained improvement since 2019, noting that Jordan reached the top 60 through a path increasingly driven by knowledge.

Jordan also ranked first globally in the scientific and technical articles sub-index. WIPO classified the kingdom among economies that achieve innovation performance above what would be expected given their level of economic development.

Through the National Council for Future Technology, whose work is overseen by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II, efforts are expanding to build an integrated ecosystem for future technologies.

The Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship is responsible for monitoring Jordan's performance in the Global Innovation Index and for preparing and implementing the country's improvement plan, in coordination with relevant national partner institutions, within the programmes and targets of the Economic Modernization Vision.

The Cabinet previously approved the final version of the revised improvement plan for Jordan's performance in the index and circulated it to the relevant bodies and institutions for implementation, each within its respective mandate, with the aim of enhancing national efforts to develop the innovation environment and raise Jordan's competitiveness in international indices.

The achievement reflects a collective national effort and an integration of roles among government institutions, the private sector, universities, research and development institutions, and bodies involved in the entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem, supporting Jordan's shift toward an economy more grounded in knowledge, technology, and innovation.
