The festival attracted more than 10,000 visitors to the Royal Film Commission of Jordan’s outdoor venue alone. Screenings held in Wadi Rum, Wadi Musa, Zarqa, Salt, Aqaba, Ajloun, Jerash and Irbid drew around 1,000 additional attendees, further expanding the festival’s reach across the Kingdom.

This year’s program featured 22 films from across Europe, reflecting a rich diversity of languages, cultures, perspectives and cinematic traditions. In addition to European Union member states, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and Ukraine were invited to participate in the festival.

The festival also celebrated Jordanian cinema, with the closing night dedicated to a screening of SINK, directed by Zain Dweib, who attended the event. The film was selected to officially represent Jordan in the Best International Feature Film category at the 99th Academy Awards.

Cultural exchange and direct engagement between filmmakers and audiences were central to this year’s program. Directors from Cyprus and Austria traveled to Jordan to take part in Q&A sessions and workshops, providing opportunities to engage with audiences, Jordanian filmmakers and professionals in the film industry.

During the closing ceremony, His Excellency Pierre-Christophe Chatzisavas, the European Union Ambassador to Jordan, praised the festival’s growing popularity. He noted that its continued expansion reflects the strong bonds of friendship between Europeans and Jordanians, as well as their shared appreciation of cinema as a means of cultural exchange, dialogue and understanding.

The European Union also expressed its appreciation to the Royal Film Commission of Jordan for its partnership and continued support, and to Her Royal Highness Princess Rym Ali for her trust and ongoing patronage.

Mohannad Al-Bakri, Director General of the Royal Film Commission of Jordan, said: “The Commission is proud of its longstanding partnership with the European Film Festival and of its contribution to providing a platform where European and Jordanian cinema meet. We are particularly pleased that this year’s festival celebrated Jordan’s film industry through the screening of SINK on closing night, highlighting the strength and diversity of our local cinema. We look forward to continuing this collaboration and expanding opportunities for audiences and filmmakers across Jordan in the coming years.”

Organizers look forward to welcoming audiences again next year for the 39th European Film Festival in Jordan.
