Jordan’s Ministry of Labor will assess on Tuesday and Wednesday the situation following the expiration of the deadline for non-Jordanian workers in violation of labor regulations to regularize their status, in preparation for considering whether the deadline should be extended, ministry spokesperson Mohammad Al-Zyoud said Tuesday.

Al-Zyoud told Al Mamlaka that labor directorates will continue receiving applicants until 5 p.m. on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, marking the end of the four-month deadline approved by the Cabinet and introduced in June.
He explained that the deadline applies to workers of all nationalities who are in violation of labor regulations, including domestic workers. It gives employers, household employers and workers an opportunity to benefit from exemptions, including a reduction of more than 50% in work permit fees for each previous year, as well as exemptions from fines owed to the Ministry of Labor and the Ministry of Interior, in accordance with the Residency and Foreigners Affairs Law.
Al-Zyoud said that any decision to extend the deadline would require Cabinet approval, as the original deadline was established by a Cabinet decision.
He added that starting October 1, 2026, an electronic deportation notice will automatically be placed against any non-Jordanian worker in violation who has not regularized their status.
Those seeking to regularize the status of workers after the deadline expires will have to apply to the Ministry of Labor to request cancellation of the deportation notice. If approved, they will be required to pay a JD5,000 deportation cancellation fee, in addition to the full work permit fees and fines owed to the Ministry of Labor, as well as any fines owed to the Ministry of Interior for workers holding residency permits.
Al-Zyoud stressed that the ministry will continue its inspection campaigns. Employers found to have non-Jordanian workers employed in violation of regulations will face a fine of no less than JD800 for each violating worker.
