Jordan nabs five medals in Cyprus

AMMAN — The national Karate team scored five medals, including one gold, two silvers, and two bronze, during its appearance in the World Championship for Youth and Juniors, which recently concluded in Limassol, Cyprus. اضافة اعلان

Jordan’s Mohammad Al-Jaafari won a bronze medal after finishing third in the -76kg weight class for the youth category, while Saeed Al-Najjar won silver in the -61kg weight class, and Ahmed Abu Hazeem won silver in the -63kg class for the junior category.

Wassim Salama won bronze in the -57kg weight class in the junior category.

Youssef Nofal of the junior national team won gold in the +70 kg weight class, defeating his four opponents, Cypriot Stylianos, Czech Snazyk, Azerbaijani Nihad Kazemzadeh, and Ukrainian Boris Oleksandr. Then, in the final, he defeated Azerbaijani player Mammadov Maharali to win the gold medal.

The tournament featured almost 800 male and female athletes representing 37 countries, and it is the start point of this year’s World Youth Competition, with three more stops taking place in Croatia, Turkey, and Italy, respectively.
