New Zealand Foreign Minister Winston Peters stated in New York on Friday that his country will not recognize the State of Palestine at this time.

Speaking before the United Nations General Assembly, Peters said: “Given the ongoing war, Hamas’s continued role as the de facto authority in Gaza, and the uncertainty surrounding future steps, many questions remain about the future of the State of Palestine, making it unwise for New Zealand to announce recognition at this time.”
