Luxembourg Prime Minister Luc Frieden and Foreign Minister Xavier Bettel announced that their country plans to recognize the State of Palestine during the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly.اضافة اعلان

According to the German Press Agency (dpa), this announcement comes after months of hesitation by the Luxembourg government, amid growing calls from European leaders to take a clear stance on the issue.

In this context, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced last week that the EU executive would adopt a firmer position toward Israel regarding the war, including suspending payments to the country and imposing sanctions on what she described as “extremist ministers” and violent settlers.

Last Friday, the United Nations General Assembly overwhelmingly voted in favor of the “New York Declaration,” which outlines “concrete, time-bound, and irreversible steps” toward a two-state solution between Israel and the Palestinians ahead of its scheduled meeting on September 22.
